Having a sense of humor is an absolute must for any parent. Sometimes the only option is to laugh.
Take a few weeks ago as an example. Out of 7 people in our house, six were puking within 24 hours of each other. I was the only person holding it together and thank goodness there was at least one adult that wasn’t closely examining the bottom of a bucket or the inside of the toilet. (See the facebook update).
At one point, Courtney crawled out of our bedroom and stumbled downstairs not unlike a zombie in the Walking Dead and asked me how things were going. My only option…laughter. I couldn’t very well run down the afternoon for her; telling her that three of the children had vomited in the last 10 minutes. I needed to get her upstairs as fast as possible and back in her cave to avoid a Stand By Me blueberry pie episode. I was worried the mere sight of the children hunkered down in their puke buckets would cause an involuntary reaction and without an extra bucket on hand, I was defenseless against the anticipated attack!
Laughter is not only the best medicine…sometimes it’s your only option!
